who do you tell what

dardy poses an interesting question today.

so here’s a moral question for you folks. if you knew that a guy was total scum and dating someone innocent and unknowing, are you in any position to tell the new girlfriend? does it depend on your relationship to the girl?

i think that you are under no moral obligation to say anything to anyone, but i think that a lot of how you deal with this really depends on your relationship with the people involved.

for example, if you are friends with the guy, but don’t know the girl, then as a friend, you should not really say anything to anyone. but, if you are friends with the girl, then things get a little bit more complicated.

if i am good friends with the girl, then i think that i would be inclined to talk to the girl and just warn her about things that i’ve heard about. what the girl does with that information is up to her, but you’ve done all that you can.

if you only casually know the girl, then i don’t think you are in a position to really say anything. wouldn’t it be kind of weird if someone who you only casually knew started telling you about someone who you have just started to date? sort of sounds like stalker-like behavior to me.

now, if the girl asks you about the guy, that’s a whole different story. you could probably mention ceratin things to her to clue her in on what kind of a guy he is. but outright just telling her would be weird, i would think.

i don’t want to wait

after talking to my good friend jenny about dawson’s creek and debating whether dawson or pacey was the better boyfriend for joey, i got this wave of nostalgia sweep over me and so i promptly went to netflix and reordered my queue so that the next set of DVDs i get are the complete set of dawson’s creek DVDs seasons 1-4. i figure it should only take me about 3 or 4 weeks to get the series from them….man…3 DVDs at a time. that’s so slow! i’m tempted to go join blockbuster’s freedom pass for movie rentals to get it all in one shot, but i think i may be dawson’d out if i do so.

ahhh, to have the friends back in my life again…dawson…joey…andie, oh we cannot forget about andie.

I don’t want to wait
For our lives to be over
I want to know right now
What will it be?
I don’t want to wait
For our lives to be over
Will it be yes or will it be sorry?

sticking it to ’em

i do use sprint for my cell phone business, but i can imagine something like this happening and i think it’s great that somebody has finally stuck it back to ’em.

a not so apologetic sprint company getting what they deserve.

speaking of tv

i have recorded all 10 episodes of 24, but i have yet to see any of them. there’s a part of me that really wonders if the show is any good. i haven’t seen the previous seasons, so it’s hard for me to really get into it. i don’t know why i’ve been so reluctant to watch the show, or why i’ve been so diligent in recording them, but i think i’m going to finally take the plunge and watch it.

i hope it’s worth it!

veronica mars

i really do love this show. by far the best UPN show on TV right now. compared to the other crap that they are showing, it’s actually some wonder that they managed to get a show. the sad thing is that it appears that the show isn’t doing very well in ratings. i think that is in large part due to the fact that it is on UPN.

but anyway, the show has some really amazing writing and great acting, especially from its title character played by kristen bell, who i am completely infatuated with. the writing is witty, charming, and reminds me of the best of buffy and angel.

i really do hope that the show gets the audience that it deserves and i hope that it stays on the air. i’m really looking forward to the rest of the season.

if you haven’t seen it, go check it out!

back to normal

i called home yesterday to check up on my brother to see how he was recovering from the operation he had last week.

me: hi, how are you feeling?
bro: fine.
me: so are you able to walk around, ok?
bro: yeah. hey, i have to go. american idol is back on.

*click*

yup. things are pretty much back to normal. =)

day of decisions

today i had to make the difficult decision of doing a lot more of the big ground work for my project or to do a lot of fluff-type stuff so that the perceived progress is greater. i guess it’s all about perception these days. is it better to look like you’ve got a lot done or is it better to do all the real hard work and then fill in the details later.

i’m usually a broad strokes kind of a person, so the little details to me have always seemed kind of trivial, but i guess the next few days are going to be spent working on the little details just so my bug list doesn’t look so big.

speaking of which:

total number of bugs in my project: 141
total number of bugs resolved: 97
total number of bugs left: 44
total number of times i’ve sworn at the bug tracking software today: 5 (and counting =P)

desperate housewives

did anyone watch the episode last night where gabrielle kissed the still-closeted gay boy to help him figure out if he was indeed gay?

is it considered cheating if you kiss someone who is gay, but of the opposite sex, and you are straight? or vice versa?

hailing craziness

as soon as i got back into the office from lunch it started to rain. the rain started as a steady downpour and then started pounding down on the roof like a jackhammer gone wild.

the raging rain appeared to have no qualms with beating down with the fury of a hamster in heat. it just get going on and on, relentless, with blatant disregard for the poor souls who were caught unaware on the streets.

but then a rather unexpected turn for the worse happened. hailstones the size of foam pellets found in cheap carnival stuffed animals started to plummet from the sky. it isn’t THAT cold here today, but for some reason the hail started to fall and man…it’s been a while since i’ve seen it hail.

the storm came almost as quickly as it left leaving behind cold, wet tidings.

man…i hope the sun comes back…i miss sunny weather.

i am so weak

proof that i am weak. i don’t know what happened. well, actually, i do. i was talking to my co-worker and he was telling me about how he wanted to get a new 20″ LCD. i told him about the GREAT deal dell is having right now. $507 for a 20″ widescreen LCD. how can you beat that?

and i went on and on about how great it is and he ended up buying one. i ate lunch and all i could think about was how great the monitor really was. it really is GREAT. and then i started thinking about why i didn’t have one. and then i started thinking about why i shouldn’t get one.

and i couldn’t think of a single good reason.

not one.

nope.

and so i got it.

the big question is…what am i going to do with it?
