pacey, dawson, and joey

a little while ago jenny was telling me about how why she truly thought that pacey was a better boyfriend than dawson. i’ve always felt that dawson and joey should have ended up together, but alas, such was not the case.

jenny tells me that the reason why so many girls probably tend to love pacey as the boyfriend more so than dawson is because he loved joey the way that all girls want to be loved. pacey was completely devoted to joey. he loved her so profoundly and unconditionally and it is that kind of love that girls can look for in a boyfriend.

on the other hand, as a guy, i feel that pacey isn’t worthy of someone like joey and instead dawson should be with joey because he’s the stand up guy with the great vision and has always been able to give joey what she needed most. sure pacey loved her and all, but he has always had self-confidence issues. he always felt that he was not good enough for her and that was his detriment.

anyhow, i still think joey should have ended up with dawson.

  1. I felt dawson was too self-involved. His filmmaking is what he loved…not Joey. Pacey was in love but willing to let her go so that she could discover what she really wanted.

  2. i think part of dawson’s charm was that he was so passionate about his film making. i don’t think that ever really got in the way of how he felt for joey. sure dawson had his own set of issues, but when it comes down to the wire, i still think that dawson would have been a better love for joey. i don’t think either of them should have been the guy for joey forever though.

  3. i think what dawson loved most was dawson. sure, pacey may have had some self-confidence issues, but that’s b/c joey was like this perfect, amazing goddess to him, and he loved and appreciated her. pacey can run a restaurant, be the sous chef, deal with his family issues, and *still* make time for joey. dawson spends six years making the same film, which comes out “okay”, and yet, will miss moments like noticing that the “girl next door” could possibly have been the girl of his dreams. and let’s not forget, joey *chose* pacey. sometimes facts are stronger than wishful thinking. sorry mike. 🙂

  4. i think that’s the tragic thing though about dawson. i feel like the chemistry that he and joey had was unparalled with any other relationship joey had. sure, pacey could have been the better boyfriend, he could have loved her more, but the innate chemistry that dawson and joey shared is one that only destiny can plan.

yes, sure, joey picked pacey. she’s got flaws too, but i guess i always wished that joey would have realized who she would have ultimately been happier with. it’s a shame that she never did and she ended up living a decent life, instead of an amazing one.
