north country

i watched north country last night. i really thought that i would really like this movie and i really wanted to. charlize theron, a seemingly good story, and best of all you knew there was a happy ending…all key ingredients to a good movie.

i’ve decided that i really don’t like movies where charlize just doesn’t look good. sure, those are the roles that she may be getting awards for, but for some reason i just haven’t really enjoyed those movies. it’s actually frightening that i kind of wonder if my taste in movies has really shifted to be more shallow. is all that i’m looking for just some shallow eye candy?

news of the weird

i heard about this story on the radio on the way to work. what would possess a man to fight a deer that has broken into your home and kill it with his bare hands, i have no idea. but to have blood splattered all over the walls of the house and to fight for 40 minutes with this deer is just crazy.

of course, i guess it only makes sense that the man would want to process the deer for its meat afterwards. after all, he worked 40 minutes to get his meal the way he wanted it…
