the break up

i watched the break up over the weekend and it was absolutely awful. i am a big sucker for romantic comedies, but this was definitely not a romantic comedy. yes, yes, i get that the title of the movie is the BREAK UP, but with vince vaughn and jennifer aniston as the leads to the movie you would think that the movie would be full of hilarity.

warning, there may be some spoilers below…

full of hilarity? no, such is not the case. instead you are forced to endure 106 minutes of torture watching the two fight. at the one point where you think that the movie will finally be worth all of the emotional pain that you are subjected to, there is no payoff. the movie is not a romantic comedy, but rather a romantic tragedy.

the movie is peppered with humorous moments, but i haven’t had to go through this much agony since bruce willis and michelle pfeiffer teamed up to make the story of us. there’s just too pain through the movie to really be satisfied with the ending. awful. just awful.

the only thing the movie does offer is that jennifer aniston looks amazing and there’s a blurry butt shot of hers as well. =P save this movie for a rental or maybe a download if you are so inclined.

type faster

i never really thought that i typed very fast. most of my friends type pretty fast, so i figured that i was pretty normal. i’ve always thought that people who type fast are people who are able to type over 100 words per minute. now THAT’s fast.

but anyway, i remember a long time ago that i took a typing class back in middle school. we used this computer program that taught us how to type and while the rest of the class was getting maybe 40 to 50 words per minute, there was this one girl that was getting 90+ words per minute. i was amazed. i think that i got about as fast as 80ish words a minute back then, but it was stressful. not like her, she looked like she was typing away pretty easily.

i figured that as programmer, one would learn how to type fast because that’s all you do, day in and day out. i guess that’s not really the case, though. cindy told me that i should check out the typing test since i jammed my finger a few days ago. i don’t think that i could really type much faster, jammed finger or not, it just might hurt less to type. =P

volleyball weekend

this last weekend, christi and i played in a volleyball tournament with these two guys who are pretty big hitters. these two guys were crushing the ball. we started off in the bottom pool and got bumped up a pool. play was competitive and fun throughout the day and we ended up taking second place. it was a fun weekend, but after the first day i was so sore that it hurt to breathe.

i’m beginning to wonder if this is just too much volleyball for me. maybe i need to start taking it easy.

one thing that i’ve noticed is that the really big hitters all suffer from some kind of injury, be it shoulder, knee, or ankle. they are all popping pills before they play. that can’t possibly be a good sign.
