average joe: hawaii

man…average joe sort of pisses me off…wait, no. larissa of average joe sort of pisses me off. she continues to be the superficial wench that we all suspected her of being. sure, put a bunch of hot guys next to the average joes and i guess one should expect that the beauty queen would gravitate towards them…but argh.

what’s surprising to see is that all of the insecurities of the guys really comes out. one of them was quoted as saying “all of the insecurities of 6th grade came rushing back.” which is kind of sad.

insecurity is such a powerful force. it can take what normally is a sane, rational person and turn them into an unreasonable and mean person. these guys on average joe who suffer from the insecurity problems immediately became hostile to these average joe hunks just because they felt threatened by their presence. nevermind that these hunks did nothing to provoke such hostility. nevermind that these guys could actually be decent, good guys. no, instead, we let insecurity reign in and insults are thrown, hostilities mount, and everyone is left uncomfortably mad at each other.

it’s a shame because we see that these average joes are actually pretty good guys and then their insecurities get the better of them and they turn into these monsters which ultimately is a big turn off for larissa and they shoot themselves in the foot.

it’s a pity, really.

i’m not really liking this season of average joe much. i wonder how it is doing in the ratings.

catching up

ooooh, i haven’t seen one of these in a long time. it’s an ally mcbeal quote! i thought i was the only one who remembered that show. i guess i’m in good company with gg.

i miss the show. i thought the first several seasons were quite good. before all the insanity started to kick in. but it was nice to see the spirit of the show live on.

speaking of which, i think i have the dvd of the first couple of seasons. maybe i ought to go watch them again for nostalgia’s sake.

tru calling revisited

i wonder why i keep coming back to the show. it’s reliably bad. eliza dushku does look good, though. but man, the writing here is just so very bad. subtle dialogue? the writers have never heard of it. so much of the show is so painfully obvious, it’s sort of insulting.

but eliza dushku is a nurse’s outfit. yummy.

i still don’t understand why i’m watching the show, though. even if you accept that tru can relive days, things are so poorly executed that it’s surprising the execs are letting the show continue.

has it really gotten that bad at fox that they can’t show something else?

average joe: hawaii

larissa, the new girl of average joe 2, is not nearly as open-minded as her predecessor, melana. the show actually makes her look like quite a bitch at the beginning, but she’s beginning to open up at the end of the first episode. it definitely makes you wonder if she can get over her shallow tendecies and just get to know the guys for who they are. i’m not really digging this show as much as the last one, i’m not sure why. maybe it’s because i feel that larissa is just overly shallow and she isn’t really willing to give the guys a real chance. we’ll see, though.

it does however provide a rather interesting commentary about how much importance we place on looks when it comes to people we date. i guess that may just be a fact of life for those who are ridiculously attractive.

it does beg the question though whether or not there is some kind of cosmic balance to life. if someone is really THAT attractive, does it mean that they are lacking in something else THAT much? hmmmm.

adam and joan

it finally happened. through extraordinary circumstances, adam had to go through a soul searching mission to find out about his mother, joan, and himself and finally it finally happened. joan and adam kissed. you could almost see that it was going to happen after adam started to call joan “jane” again.

it was a love affair that was always in the making and i’m glad that through it all, it finally happened. it definitely begs the question, what’s next?

i guess we’ll see, but this episode reaffirms my love for the show, joan of arcadia.

west wing

i finally caught up with all of the episodes of the west wing that i’ve missed this season. man, i really like the show. i’m sort of sad that i only just started to watch this show and i’m curious about the previous seasons. it looks very good. sort of draws me in.

i think one of the reasons why i like the show so much is because it really puts some personalities behind the face of a government and it shows some of the struggles that people go through to make the government run the way that it may run.

just a nice human perspective on an otherwise unknown process.

television

i haven’t been able to watch as much tv as i ordinarily would. this usually used to be a cause for great concern for me, but with the recent discovery that most tv shows can be downloaded, i haven’t felt very stressed out about it at all. it’s actually quite nice because the downloaded tv shows have the commercials cut out already for your viewing pleasure. this is almost better than replaytv because you don’t have to do anything…the only drawback is that it takes a while to download the episodes of the tv shows that you want to see.

but man, if it weren’t for people uploading tv shows, i’d never be able to watch tru calling. i have yet to see one live on the tube yet…not that it’s that good anyway…but still..

room raiders

i was watching tv last night in another bout of insomnia and stumbled across room raiders. the concept of the show is that three contestants vye for a date with the “room raider”. the first raider was a guy who got to go through three other girl’s rooms and look through all of their stuff…the guy seemed particularly interested in going through the girl’s underwear drawer.

the basic premise of the show is that based on the inspection of the room, the raider would then pick a girl based on the room to go out and have a date with.

the second raider was a girl who went through three guy’s rooms…it’s pretty funny because she was ripping these guys apart. i don’t think that i would participate in a show like this though, i don’t want my privacy violated like that.

average joe finale

i think that i’ve watched most of the average job series. i have to admit that i think that the producers of average joe really lucked out with melana. i say this because she’s a very attractive woman who just happened to be a very good person inside as well. she gave the guys a real chance even though they may not have been the normal lot of guys that she usually chooses from.

in the finale, we see melana choose jason, the part-time water and student who she has on numerous times described as “pretty”. instead of choosing adam, the average joe (who actually isn’t so average, as a 27 year old millionaire), who is very romantic, sweet, and caring. what i think it finally boiled down to was that melana was not physically attracted to adam. physical attraction won.

her choice sort of reaffirms my faith in women that they aren’t all gold diggers. she had the choice between a starving student and a successful millionaire. but this also reaffirms the old adage that “nice guys finish last.”

it wouldn’t have mattered which way she choose, i don’t think that it could have come out well for her. if she choose adam, i would have said that she’s a gold digger who never really dug adam until she saw his money….so she was put into an impossible situation. i think she made the right choice though, she picked the person who she was most attracted to. would you ever want to be in a relationship where you weren’t really attracted to the person?

i really wanted adam to be picked though. the guy is a stud and he’s very cool, modest, and a good person at heart.

i can’t wait to see the new average joe…in the clip of the next season we see a girl who seems really bitchy!

tru calling – how bad, bad can be.

you know, i had high hopes for tru calling. i guess i had hoped that eliza dushku’s show would be a great hit…something worthy to replace buffy. but no. instead we are assaulted with this ridiculously bad show whose only goal seems to be worse than its previous show.

how many times does tru knock something off the bedstand and break something? when will she learn? seriously. bad, bad writing. it’s painful to watch.
