what is the longest word that you know off the top of your head?
i was writing an email today and as i was typing, i wasn’t sure if the word i was typing was one word, two words, or hyphenated. i had to look it up.
the word i was typing was “straightforward”. but when i thought about it, the longest word that i could think of off the top of my head is “tintinnabulation”. thank you, ms. dellbridge(?) of 6th grade language arts for making me do those wordly wise exercises. that’s the only word that i remember from then.
back then, we had to write out the definitions of each word as part of our homework assignment. it was unheard of to type out the definitions back then…people just didn’t use computers like that. but now with online dictionaries, i wonder if “doing definitions” is just a matter of cut and paste these days…
The longest word I know is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Definition: a nonsense word meaning fantastic.
aside from cheryl’s famous word, there’s also the oft-mentioned “antidisestablishmentarianism.”
