if you could choose between getting one really big xmas gift from everyone, or a bunch of little ones, which would you choose?
if i had a choice, i’d probably opt for the bunch of little ones. i think that there’s just more individual thought to the gifts and it’s just more fun opening a bunch of gifts than one big one. but i wouldn’t complain if i did get just one big gift. =P
man…i’m exhausted. i’ve been having a lot of trouble going to sleep lately. it’s been ongoing for the last two weeks or so. i’m not going to bed until 3 or 4am and when i wake up to go to work i wake up with a feeling of exhaustion. there’s just no relief. today, my body is aching a little, i suspect from the lack of sleep. i can’t wait until i go home tonight and go to bed. i don’t think that i can survive like this much longer.
i don’t know why i can’t seem to slumber. you’d think that it’d be an easy thing to do, but it takes quite an effort for me to be able to fall asleep.
on the way to work today i passed by the opening on a new donut store. it used to be a winchells but they closed down and happy donuts moved in. i didn’t think anything of it at first, but then i saw the sign.
it read, “GRAND OPENING! FREE COFFEE with any purchase”.
i, of course, was suckered in. i bought a few donuts and they offered me a choice between free coffee or free freshly squeezed orange juice. i opted for the free OJ and went on my way. orange juice is definitely not the drink to have after eating almost too-sweet donuts. no, the juice tasted sour and unpleasant. next time i must remember the coffee instead.
the donuts were actually pretty good. better than winchells, i’d say. i would say that they are a strong #2 only next to the delightfully light krispy kreme donuts. they were a little expensive though, 75 cents for a donut. i’m not sure if i’ll go again.
it’s funny because i expect donuts to be 60 cents or less and if it is any more (15 WHOLE CENTS!) then i get turned off. sheesh, what’s 15 cents?
it’s been a chill day today. i got more testing done for my project at work, so it looks like it’s coming along just fine. i also took a refresher on all this techie stuff that even bores me, so i won’t talk about it.
it’s been a pretty chill kind of a day…it’s been like that for the last couple of days. i guess i should think about my christmas shopping. i haven’t really done any of it yet. i’m not sure how many christmas gifts i need to buy this year, though, so it may not end up being that big of a deal.
i’m not sure why exactly joe horn is getting so much publicity for what his little cell phone victory. i guess me talking about it only makes the situation worse, but a 15 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct is good enough. i mean, do we really have to worry about victory dances? is it really that big of a deal? i thought it was kind of tacky, but i mean, come on, surely there were more interesting things going on in the world of sports this weekend, right? …right?
i have so much see’s candy at home. my sister gave me a bunch of see’s candy chocolate bars. my mom gave me 4 pounds worth of chocolate: a 2 pound box of the nuts and chewy and a 2 pound box of the milk chocolate candies. i have so much chocolate in the apartment right now, i don’t know what to do with it.
how is it that see’s candy became THE candy of choice to give? how come gummy bears didn’t win that market? or kit kat? or crunch bars? what makes see’s candy more common than other chocolates like godiva? is it just the moderate price point? hmmmm…
in an on-going effort to learn how to use the canon s400, i decided to bring it up with me to the slopes over the weekend. the weather was pretty good over the weekend and i must admit that we were pretty lucky. it was supposed to snow and be quite windy, but instead we saw a little bit of fog and just the tiniest little bits of snow.
it took me a long time to get my feet under me. i don’t know why it was so hard, but man, it’s been a while since i’ve boarded. i sort of wonder if snowboarding is really for me anymore. it was fun and all, but it was more of the same. i don’t know if i’m into it anymore. odd. maybe it was all the snowboarding i did during my early days of unemployment that has just tired me out.
oh well, hopefully these monday blues will be over.
on a tangent, today’s been a particularly productive day at work. i finally was able to work out some big issues that i’ve been ignoring for a while because i wasn’t sure how to deal with it. looks like it’s not so bad anymore.
one of the weird things about my office is that late at night, the office, for whatever bizarre reason opts to turn off all the lights in the hallways. so whenever i leave work, it’s really, really dark. in fact, the stairs are quite treacherous territory. as i was walking down the stairs carrying a big box, i had to tread extra carefully to make sure that i didn’t trip over myself.
i went home last night to wish my mom a happy birthday and i gave her her birthday present. at first she didn’t know what it was, so i explained to her what the roomba robovac was. after she learned how to use it she was thrilled. no more worries about vacuuming, just let the robot do it. i’m glad that she liked it, hopefully it’ll save her from the chore of vacuuming.
she was saying how handy it was and how it would be even better if she had like 5 of them so that all of the house could be cleaned at once. i was like…uhhhh, just one is really expensive =P
hopefully it’ll help out around the house. the vacuum works surprisingly well considering that it runs off a battery.
i placed an order with dell yesterday and was disappointed to see that the expected ship date wasn’t until december 29th. then i started to get paranoid because i never got an order acknowledgement. usually dell is pretty good about these things and they send the acknowledgement right away.
this morning i was pleased to find out that my order has already shipped and it’s on its way out. there is a revised estimate of shipping date and it seems all perfectly normal.
then later today i got an email informing me that my order was shipped.
then even later today i got an email confirming that they received my original order.
those wacky guys at dell, what are they thinking?
But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
