canon lenses

i think it’s HILARIOUS that adam thinks that “$57,000 is actually not that bad of a price.” when it comes to the cost of buying all of the lenses he wants. sure, adam, hey, wanna lend me $57,000? =P

HILARIOUS.

but since he did a little run down of the lenses he has and wants, it sort of made me want to examine my dream line up. it’s nice to dream, you know?

tour of the islands

dardy, geoff, paul, nelson, and i went to check out treasure island and yerba buena island on saturday for a little photo shoot. dardy took an astonishing *9* photos while we were out there and i think geoff took about 30 or so.

i was sort of shocked because i was pushing around 150 pictures taken for the day, and i felt like i was holding back a little.

i think that i’ve fallen in love with my canon 15mm fisheye lens, but i’m trying really, really hard not to taken too many pictures with the shot. i don’t want to get sick of the effect or to overuse it, but as i was processing images, i noticed that i had a heavy bias for the fisheye images. i think 11 of the 24 images i posted up used the fisheye lens. ugh! that’s just too much. i need to settle down a little bit.

conditions were kind of crummy, overcast and hazy for the most part. i tried to do some post-processing magic, but there’s only so much you can do.

i’m curious to see how other people’s images came out, to see what each of us saw at the same location.

low light photography

so i tried something new when i took pictures at jimmy’s birthday party last night, but i realize that i should not have experiemented in the way that i did. oh well. what’s worse is that i did the processing of the photos on my laptop and it appears that my laptop LCD has a red-shifted bias because the images didn’t look nearly as green as they do on my work machine. oh well, i’m too lazy to reprocess them, so i introduce to you all jimmy’s birthday dinner in green-o-vision. oh well, better luck next time!

still raining xmas gifts

while at jimmy’s birthday dinner, eric gave me the mouse that i ordered from him last year as a christmas gift. pretty cool! so now i’ve finally got myself a wireless optical mouse for my laptop. i’m wondering how long it will take for the two AA batteries to die and how quickly i will have to replace them. i do like the on/off switch that the mouse has and the neoprene case that it comes with it also pretty cool. i am also a little concerned about how fragile it is and how it’ll do in transport in my laptop bag. but i’m very excited to try it out. maybe now, finally, i’ll be able to do some photoshopping on my laptop.

new project

i’ve started a new project earlier this week. i’m not sure how long it is going to take me to accomplish, but at the rate i’m going, it looks like it’s going to be something like 2 or 3 months. man, i don’t know if i have that kind of patience… but i can already start to feel myself getting sick of it, so slow and steady will win the race.

what is this new project? i’ve decided that i need to find the best instant ramen base package to make my ramen from so i went to the local chinese store and bought something like 20 different packages of ramen. so far this project has set me back about $10, but i anticipate on getting more samples at different stores as well.

fondue @ work

today was the company holiday potluck. there was all sorts of food there. i brought a cheese fondue and a chocolate fondue to work. it was quite good and it didn’t take too long to prepare so it was a nice little treat.

it’s interesting that fondue seems to be coming back into style. i guess it was really popular back in the seventies, but for some reason it sort of fizzled out. i think that it is about time to have another fondue party. hmmmmm, what to make this time?
