i went to the escape from alcatraz triathlon over the weekend. it was amazing to see all the people make the treacherous swim from the rock to shore and then bike and then run. who signs up for this kind of madness? =P
it was really cool to see, though. i remembered adam’s blog about panning cyclists, so i decided to do some experimentation with panning. it’s actually not nearly as hard as i thought it would be and the results are stellar. the pictures are so much more compelling. i thought that you would need a much longer shutter speed than what i shot with. i think that i could have a little bit more blur, but it was fun to try out. panning is your friend!
mimi was in town and so christi and i joined her on a trip to the wine country. we checked out some vineyards and even got to see what little baby grapes look like. they don’t look very good. =P
my brother and sister graduated! congrats, guys!
they are all grown up now!
my big tv died. it’s old, though, so i guess i’m not surprised that it finally decided to give up. i think it is about 15 years old. they don’t make TVs like this anymore. BIG. it’s a 35″ tube tv that is built into an entertainment set. it is ridiculously heavy. but the picture stopped showing and the audio stopped too, so it’s now just a really heavy brick.
so i’ve recently started looking for a TV. it’s been years since i’ve shopped for a real TV and landscape has changed dramatically. there are so many choices and i didn’t know where to even start. sure, i’ve heard about plasmas and all, but i didn’t really know much about them, the pros, the cons, or anything. LCD TVs seemed like all the rage lately, too.
i asked warren to point me in the right direction and he gave me a ton of information and some resources to use to do some research. after much research, i think that i’ve settled on the samsung 46″ DLP HDTV. i think it’ll be a fine TV. warren says that once i’m ready to move to something larger, i can move this TV to the bedroom…that warren, he’s such a kidder…or is he?
when you make a commitment to me, i expect you to follow through and deliver what you had promised me. if, for some reason, you cannot do whatever it is that you promised me that you would do, i would expect you to tell me that you were unable to do it. what i would not expect from you is not hearing anything from you and to be left wondering what the hell happened.
it is probably the biggest professional pet peeve i have when someone fails to get deliverables to me AND doesn’t say anything to me about it. it is not my job to check to see why you couldn’t do something that you promised me you would do!
But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
