never understood it

i never understood why people enjoy having conflict in their relationships. i never understood why that’s a good or desirable quality to have in order to have a successful relationship. it drives me crazy when i hear about people who do things that are designed to provoke a reaction out of the other person so that they know that the other person cares about them. why do people feel that this is an effective and desirable way to find out how others feel about them?

i also don’t understand why people believe in playing hard to get. why do you want to impede in the progress of something that could be great? wouldn’t you rather drive towards the same endgame? why does it feel better to have to overcome some kind of massive hurdle, some kind of painstaking courting process to end up dating someone? why do people feel like dating should be some kind of rite of passage filled with tortuous tests?

i just don’t get it. why does dating have to be difficult?

nerd am i

i know, this is going to sound totally lame, but i just received my order of brand new NiMH batteries and i am totally excited. really, very excited. as i type this, i realize how completely lame it is to be this excited, but i am.

i’ve been reading up on what brand of battery to buy and what the best way is to charge them because i’ve been buying really cheap AA batteries in the past and they are great for a little while, but after a little while they just suck. they lose their capacitance and and are generally worthless.

so i’ve done some research and i decided to buy a new charger and a new set of batteries. it turns out that your battery charger can lower the lifespan of your battery. who knew?

i have been reading up on batteries and decided to splurge a little (especially after i’ve now bought 2 sets of 16 AA batteries which all pretty much suck now) and get some decent batteries. fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me, right? yeah, well, shame on me, indeed.

so i bit the bullet and bought the sanyo 2700mAh rechargeable batteries. they aren’t cheap, but i hear it is the battery to get. i also got the maha travel charger, which is supposed to be a smart conditioning charger. who knew that batteries needed so much attention. i’ve never heard of such high maintainence batteries before.

we’ll see how it performs in my lighting gear when i do a shoot in low light next week.

new refrigerator

i just got a new refrigerator in my apartment because i have been complaining that i have a missing tray to the apartment complex manager. they said that they do not sell replacement parts for the missing tray, so instead, i got a BRAND NEW REFRIGERATOR.

i was thinking that maybe i could keep my old refrigerator and then i could have a drink fridge and a food fridge. an ice cream freezer and a normal food freezer. i could just set up the extra fridge right next to the sofa…

oh well.
