medium

i have been watching this show on tv and i have to say that i do believe that i like the show. the one thing about the show that i’m not so fond of, however, is the star patricia arquette. maybe it’s my teeny bopper ways, but i do think that i would love the show if it had some kind of young teeny bopper-esque star who would be talking to these dead people. i think that’s the one thing that is missing from the show.

but i still do like it.

the mountain!

does anyone watch this show or is it just me? because if it is just me than i’m the only one who is going to appreciate this post. and if you don’t watch the show, catch it on the WB, it’s GREAT, but it does take a little while to get into it.

anyway, for the folks who do watch the mountain, things are sure spicing up on the mountain…but MAN, no, david, no! we all know that you are the ladies man and all, but really, what’s going on here? it was only a little bit ago that you were looking to have a steady girl and then maria processes her love to you, maria, who was the first love of your life that you had to leave, maria the woman who is now engaged to your BROTHER, maria, the woman who you know better than to kiss…and what do you do, david? what? tell me! you go and kiss her.

this is wrong on oh-so-many levels.

she was your first love. she may have been the biggest love of your life, but that is in the past. your brother is dating her, nay, he just proposed to her and she accepted! does this mean nothing to you? have you not grown just a little bit since you’ve come back home? aren’t you a better person than that?

aren’t you?

so it seems that we are led to believe that you are not. and david, though i’ve known you for only a short time, i’ve started to come to think of you as someone who i can trust. someone who is widely misunderstood, but has a good heart. david, i had started to think all of these good things about you, but you had to go and undermine that all with what you did.

i’m running out of people who i like on this show.

and maria…let me just say that though you may be HAWT, come now, girl, be a little responsible. marriage isn’t something to be taken lightly. what in the world were you thinking? why, maria, why? why do you go and seek comfort from the only person who can completely ruin your life as you know it?

so sad…

the biggest loser

as much as i am a sucker for really bad tv, i cannot get myself to watch the biggest loser on NBC. first, i’m disappointed in NBC for airing such a program, but also i just can’t see what the entertainment value is in watching people lose weight…or making them suffer but tempting them with food. i just find that cruel and irresponsible.

i mean, i like cruel reality tv as much as the next, but honestly, we have to draw the line somewhere…don’t we?

dr. vegas

why is it that every character rob lowe plays is himself? the off-beat, quirky guy who knows it all? he’s too smart for his own good and too moral that he often gets himself in trouble as a result of his own morality?

even still, dr. vegas is an entertaining show with some of my favorite actors. sarah lancaster, rob lowe, and joe pantoliano. it’s a little rough around the edges, but it seems ok. it’s not a to die for show to watch, but it’s good enough that i’ll check out another episode or two. i don’t think that the show will last though.

it’s too bad the handler didn’t last. i liked joe pantoliano in that.

desperate housewives

i saw the first episode of desperate housewives and i must say that it was pretty good. i am a big fan of teri hatcher, but the years have not treated her well. i’m also a big fan of marcia cross who was in everwood earlier last season. i guess she’s not coming back to the show.

i really like the fact that the show has enough quirkiness to be funny, but also enough drama to pull at your heartstrings. i wasn’t sure if this show would be that good, but now i think i’ll give it a few good watchings. a lot of stuff happened in the first episode, though, it was a little overwhelming.

jack and bobby

jack and bobby, by far, is the best new tv show i’ve seen so far this season. most of the other shows have been pretty disappointing, but jack and bobby has been pretty amazing. i thought that it might be good, but never did i suspect that it would be this good.

it seems that excellent writing seems to be the latest trend for me. before it used to be a pretty face that would win me over, but lately it seems that really good writing has drawn me to shows. the last show that really won me over was joan of arcadia.

courtney is probably the cutey of the show, but i don’t think that she’s to-die-for cute. not like lana from smallville or buffy. but so far i’ve been very impressed with the show and i can’t wait to see more episodes. i highly recommend the show. it’s probably the only show i’ve seen so far that i would recommend….nay, insist others to watch.

bradford, you idiot.

total spoiler here for the apprentice, but i have to comment about this because i was shocked and fuming when i first saw the episode last night.

bradford had won immunity previously and so he was all good and happy and set. ivana, the project manager for apex was doing a wretchedly bad job as the project manager and i personally feel due to her poor performance, she should definitely be fired. stacie is also well hated by everyone and due to her complete lack of social senses, i feel that she should be fired too. but bradford, poor, dear, stupid, arrogant bradford. you, my friend, should not have been fired. were it not for your cockiness, were it not for your pride, you should have stayed, and you probably could have made it a long way.

i was really upset when i first heard trump’s decision because i felt that there were other people on the show who just weren’t cut out for it. ivana was being torn to shreds by her teammates and i really felt that she needs to be fired. but then i started thinking…

wouldn’t it be more interesting to see ivana outcasted by the group for bringing bradford into the boardroom and then having him leave OVER stacie or herself? not only will everyone else hate her because she just hurt the team, but she’s managed to stay there and keep stacie in. wouldn’t it be pretty fun to watch ivana squirm around and see what is going to happen to her after everyone finds out what has happened to bradford? sure, the guy’s a chauvinistic pig, but at least he’s got some kind of business sense. at least he recognized that his arrogance may not be the best course of action and he later backed off and listened to the group’s suggestion. i mean, the guy’s kind of dumb, but not completely. he’s got some potential.

but he certainly was made an example of tonight. nice.

but alas, it is his arrogance that got him. besides, i don’t think that ivana or stacie are going to be staying much longer anyway, but it would be kind of neat if they started an outcast group to scheme against the rest of the group. that would be quite entertaining…not that i think either of them have it in them to lead such a revolution.

doesn’t matter, they’ll both be fired if they keep it up anyway.

everwood

the tv season has officially started and i am way, way behind. so far behind that i’m not sure what i’m going to do to catch up. how can i catch up when there are only so many hours in a day?

on the way to work today, i decided to watch everwood. these one hour shows are actually pretty good because they span the length of my commute…well, on a good day anyway. so i was able to watch the first episode of the season and i have to say that i really missed this show a lot. there’s just so much angst going on in the show and so much misdirection that when things do start to come together you start to realize the brilliance in the writing.

i really don’t like delia much in the show, though. she just doesn’t add much to the show and she’s always whining and being used to further the storylines of the other characters. i used to really like her, but now i don’t know if it is really something that i would really care for.

the new character in the show seems kind of weird. i suspect that he may make the moves on amy and then ephram and him will butt heads…ephram can never really be happy. this is what i’ve decided and this is probably what makes the show so good. i wish that madison would come back into the picture too, just to stir things up. that would be quite amusing.

but all in all, i was quite impressed with the show and i can’t wait for the next episode.

i don’t know about you, but i’m really excited for the new tv season. not so much because there are a lot of new shows that i think are going to be really great (in fact, i have high hopes, but low expectations for joey) but because it’s been a while since there’s been a new show of anything.

i really am going to miss buffy and angel, though.

movie marathon

i just watched amelie and i thought it was ok. the movie started out with great potential and a lot of quirkiness, but it just didn’t grab my attention. i did like the little plots and schemes, but i think at the end of the day, the kind of love story that i like revolves around either an unrequited love or the relentless pursuit of a loved one.

the movie that really surprised me was love and sex starring famke janssen and jon favreau. i thought it was going to be some kind of trashy B movie, but i really liked the plot. maybe because it did hit close to home with the on again, off again relationship. it wasn’t so much that the movie gave hope to me about love as much as it was nice to see the good guy win one in the end. as impossible as it may seem, the couple was able to overcome such odds and prosper. it definitely gave me the warm fuzzies and i recommend the movie. it is not your typical love story.
