desserts

i have a sweet tooth. it probably gets me into more trouble than not, but there’s just something about the sweets that i cannot resist. i try to take it all in moderation, but it’s hard sometimes because dessert is so good!

as much as i love the sweets, i probably don’t have cake as much as i would like. it’s a pity because, well…cake is good!

photo idea

before the new year’s party kicked off, john suggested that we try and set up a shot with the bottle of hpnotiq. this drink is wickedly blue and we both thought it would be cool to backlight it and have the blue really come out. we weren’t able to get the shot that we really wanted, but i didn’t want to spend too much time trying to get the effect we wanted, but this is the best shot of the bunch.

it definitely renewed my interest in studio photography. i don’t think that this is something that i would pursue because part of the problem is that i just don’t have the patience to set up the shot and figure out how to make it work. trying to overly control the environment is so hard and so much work! i prefer to work with what i’ve got and make the best of it…but still, it was fun to do.

west wing

i finally caught up with all of the episodes of the west wing that i’ve missed this season. man, i really like the show. i’m sort of sad that i only just started to watch this show and i’m curious about the previous seasons. it looks very good. sort of draws me in.

i think one of the reasons why i like the show so much is because it really puts some personalities behind the face of a government and it shows some of the struggles that people go through to make the government run the way that it may run.

just a nice human perspective on an otherwise unknown process.

story of life

preface: This is a fictionary tale about a fictional man and his fictional life. Any attempt to draw parallels of this tale to real life are not only useless, but without merit. I am not talking about you, me, or anybody else that we may know. It is simply a story about life. It is neither happy nor sad, just a tale of what life can be. Enjoy it if you wish or skip over it. I don’t mind either way.

oneword

oneword is a very cool idea. i like it quite a bit and i’m very tempted to try something like it.

it’s an interesting writing exercise that’s easy to do, but it also helps you just write. i liken it to speed blogging. ooooh, there’s another idea. i know that there are blogathons and all, but what about speed blogging? where you accumulate donations based on the amount that you blog. hmmmm.

beef problem solved!

so it turns out that whole foods market sells all natural beef. this means that the cows are never fed animal by-products, they never sell downed cows, and they are free from growth hormones and antibiotics. so it would appear that buying beef from whole foods is a relatively safe way to eat beef.

mmmm.

i wonder how much more expensive it is.

small minor change

i made a small change to the URL of this page to more accurately describe it. i moved back my old journal pages to live at http://journal.ocliw.com and moved these pages over to http://blog.ocliw.com small change, i know, and i tried to make it so no one would really notice the difference…but still, i thought it was worth noting.

without beef…

i’ve been without beef now for nearly two weeks. i believe i’m suffering from withdrawl. i’m a big beef eater and with the mad cow scare i’ve decided that i want to stay away from beef for a little while.

i am rapidly approaching the longest time i’ve ever gone without beef. back when i was growing up, i would say that the longest stretch of time i went without beef would be no longer than a day…my sandwiches or dinner usually had some kind of beef in it, or at the very least some kind of meat.

i think that i’ve been craving beef lately though. when i go to nations, i order the chicken sandwich. for dinner, when i went to mcdonald’s i almost had the #1 combo. the big mac looked so enticing. oh, everything about it looked so enticing…so delightful…so inviting. and when that mysterious, choppy voice asked me what i wanted, i couldn’t speak for a moment.

my stomach was yearning for the big mac. just eat it. it’ll taste SO GOOD. but i yielded. instead i got the chicken combo. i really feel that i’m all chickened out.

today for lunch we had pizza from round table. the combo that i was eating had meat on it and it tasted so good. but before i started devouring the pizza, the first thought i had was, “is there any beef in it?” it’s aggravating.

i don’t know what pepperoni is made out of, but the guys assured me it was some kind of mystery pork product. so i guess it’s all safe.

i wonder how much longer i can last. i know that i’ll never be able to cut it as a vegetarian. i just love meat too much.

first day of volleyball

today marks the first day of the 2004 volleyball season for me. i’m looking forward to it, but i’m sure that i really suck now. it’s been so long since i last touched a volleyball that i’m quite afraid of what it’s going to be like. my only comfort is that hopefully everyone else is the same way and that we’ll all suck together.

yes, team suckage is ok.

can a thought be too short as to not qualify as blog-worthy?
