erasure: light at the end of the world

i was able to have a listen to the upcoming erasure album and i have to say that it is probably erasure’s best effort in recent memory. ever since cowboy, i’ve been pretty disappointed with the albums that have been released. especially their covers album. what an awful idea.

so i was definitely skeptical when i heard that erasure had yet ANOTHER album out. wasn’t nightbird released just last year? granted, it was not a great album, but i thought it was a pretty quick release.

but after an initial listen, i must say that i’m pretty impressed with the album. maybe the erasure of past has come back in full strength.

  1. no way!! the self-titled album isn’t my least favorite, but it makes sense now why you thought the latest effort was only not bad. but i liked wonderland, the innocents, and i say i say i say more than that album. i guess i’m more old school erasure.

  2. Every time I come to your site I end up with “Always” stuck in my head. How’s about you post a new entry? (Tag, hint hint)

“Always, I wanna be with you, and make believe with you, and live in harmony harmony oh love…”
(Watch, that’s not even an Erasure song.)

  3. The self titled album was Erasure’s “artist” album. There weren’t really any Top 40 tracks in it but IMHO it was a very cohesive album where the whole was greater than the sum of it’s parts.
The “Wild” album is also very dear to my heart.

  4. i know it was a remix album, but i really liked _the two ring circus_. and yeah, _erasure_ was also a good album, even though it wasn’t radio-friendly.

  5. I´ve just listened to the upcoming Erasure album “Light at the…”
and i have to say that it is probably Erasure’s best effort since” I say I say I say” 1994!!…
Vince Clarke are back to basics and the album is a grower…
    Love it already.

  6. Hmmm…I think the last Erasure album I listened to was….I dunno, back in ’90, when a group of wannabe thugs was standing outside the Erasure concert I went to, so they could “beat up the fags”.

Of course, being a fan of Abba and a fan of Erasure, I didn’t mind a covers album.
