greg’s birthday

i swear, you’d think that we’re 21 or something, but we got greg sloshed for his birthday. i swear i didn’t have anything to drink, but all of my photos turned out blurry. i just don’t know how to use a point and shoot camera. =P

greg got drunk pretty fast and the evening came to an end quickly. he made a few offerings to the porcelain gods while at the restaurant. the highlight of the evening was probably him being offered a shot of 151 and then a shot of tequila as a chaser. his friends are mean.

productive around the house

this weekend, before the super bowl, i finally got around to setting up the antenna in the attic to point in the right direction. it turns out that the direction that the antenna needs to point is directly in the path of our neighbor’s house. so much for getting semi-line of sight.

upstairs, i can get HD just enough. but the cable run downstairs is too long. i have no idea how the cable is run in-between the walls, but the run must be long enough to degrade the signal strength. bummer.

there also was a break in the rain so i hopped outside and mowed the lawns. i don’t know how this happened but the gas cap to the lawn mower fell off, maybe because it got bored because it’s been nearly a month since i last used the lawn mower, and all of the gas that was in the tank had evaporated. i had to refill the gas in the mower before it would mow.

i also made a batch of cookies over the weekend, but i didn’t have any vanilla so i substituted almond extract for it instead. the cookies are…different.

now that’s a game

i, like most of football-loving america and other commercial watching people, watched the super bowl. i was rooting for the giants to win and felt that they had a good shot at it. the game was a low scoring one and i wasn’t sure if the giants could pull it off.

late in the fourth quarter, the game was on the line. eli manning was forced to lead a come-from-behind drive with about two and half minutes left. eli manning. two minute drill? no way, i thought. but there was still hope.

this was probably one of the best super bowls i’ve watched in recent history. jen, christi, and i were watching it and after the giants won, i looked over to jen to see that she was actually tearing up. her mighty patriots had fallen and she was taking it a lot harder than i expected.

all in all, it was a great game and i’m glad that it was, though it was unexpected to be this good to watch.
